Full video conferencing screen
Use this to communicate with your student/instructor at any time during the session. In the lower right corner of your screen, you’ll see a microphone and video symbol. These are used to toggle the audio and video feeds coming from your end. When colored red the feed is off when colored white the feed is on.
Online Chat and File Sharing
his chat and file area is available across all screens used during the session. Use the online chat to communicate with your student or instructor. Files shared during the session will appear in the “Classroom Files” and will be available to the Instructor, Student, and Parent after the session is completed. The Classroom Files make up the “Session Portfolio” which is included as part of the session report.
Located at the top left corner of the screen, the timer keeps track of time during a session.
Interactive Writing Board
This is similar to a shared word document used to review and craft writing. You can copy and paste text to the space. Writing tools are located at the top and include: bold, italic, underline, brackets, color tool, and copy to clipboard tool. Select the text you would like to bold, italicize or underline to apply formatting. The color tool can be clicked before typing or applied to selected text afterward.
Interactive drawing board
This screen offers the most flexibility when it comes to online tutoring. Here, you can use the marker to draw with control over line color and thickness.
Or you can create text with the text box tool with control over text color, size, and font.
The arrow is used for selecting, resizing, and rotating objects. The eraser is used to erase anything you’ve created. The garbage can be clicked to clear the entire drawing board. To the right of the garbage can is the resizing tool which allows you to change the dimensions of the drawing board to create more working space.
Both the instructor and student can use this to take a photo and upload it to the drawing board. This is useful for turning physical files into workable online documents. You can take photos immediately or use the three-second timer. When you click “share” the screen captures appear in the files area and can be dragged and dropped to the drawing board.
Both the instructor and student can share their screen here by pressing the blue “Share My Screen” button at the top. After clicking this you are presented with the option to share your entire screen, an application window, or a chrome tab. Note: This looks slightly different depending on the browser. Firefox will not offer the Chrome tab selection and Safari is not compatible with the screen share tool at the present time.
