How to enter the Online Classroom

Your account is activated and your online session is booked! Now it’s time to enter the Online Classroom. This article explains how to access the Online Classroom from your Dashboard.

Users: This article is for Students, Parents, and Instructors 

Prerequisites:  Instructor and/or Admins have added you as a user to the system | You have activated your account | Online session has been booked

Students

Follow the step-by-step instructions outlined below:

Note: If this is your first time on the platform, please take a look at the Student Readiness Checklist to ensure you’re prepared before your first session!

There are two ways in which your instructor will book a session with you:

Sessions Booked In Advance

Once you’ve been assigned to your instructor, they can book a session with you and you can request to book a session with them. Students and instructors receive an email confirmation for booked sessions, and an email reminder one hour prior to the online session. 

To join a session: 

  1. Log in to your Student Portal

Note: If you’re a student for more than one organization, you’ll need to select which organization to enter upon signing in.

2. From the Student Dashboard, click the orange “Join” button in the Upcoming Sessions box.

    For all online sessions, the orange "Join" button will appear on the My Student Dashboard page 15-minutes prior to the session start time.

    Tip: If you are logged in as the student and still do not see the "Join" button, double-check the session details to make sure the session was not scheduled as an in-person meeting. If all the session details are correct, try refreshing the page.

     

    3. When clicked, the "Join" button takes you to the online classroom waiting room.

    In the waiting room, you're able to test your microphone, your camera, and your speakers. Please take a moment to test everything before entering the classroom.

    4. The blue "Enter" button into the online classroom will become active once both the student and the instructor are in the waiting room. 

    Important Note: The instructor must enter the classroom first, then the student's enter button will become active to enter.

      5. Finally, click "Enter" and have a great session!

    Instant Sessions

    Note: It is not a prerequisite that you have activated your account for on-demand sessions. 

    Your instructor can book an “instant” session with you. When your instructor books an instant session, you will receive an email with a “Join Session Now” link.

    Click the Join Session Now link. Next, you will be prompted to enter your first and last name.

    Once you’ve entered your name, click the blue Continue button which will take you to the online waiting room. In the waiting room, you will be asked to share your device's microphone and camera. You will also be able to test your connection.

     

    Step2 - Student Process to enter classroom

    When your instructor has entered the online classroom, the blue Enter button will become active. Click the blue Enter button and you will be in the online classroom! 

    For new students, after the session:

    You will receive an email requesting that you finish creating your account.

    Instructors

    Sessions Booked In Advance

    To join a session: 

    1. Log in to your Instructor Portal 

    2. From the Instructor Dashboard, click the orange “Join” button in the Upcoming Sessions box.

    Note: If you’re an instructor for more than one organization, you’ll need to select which organization to enter upon signing in.

    For all online sessions, the orange "Join" button will appear on the My Instructor Dashboard page 15-minutes prior to the session start time. 

    Note: When clicking the “Join” button for URL Link sessions, you will be taken to the external URL link that was provided in the session booking form.


    Tip: If you are logged in and still do not see the "Join" button, double-check the session details to make sure the session was not scheduled as an in-person meeting. If all the session details are correct, try refreshing the page.


    3. When clicked, the "Join" button takes you to the online classroom waiting room.




    4. The blue "Enter" button into the online classroom will become active once both the student and the instructor are in the waiting room.

    5. Finally, click "Enter" and have a great session!

    Parents

    Note: If you’re a parent for student(s) enrolled in more than one organization, you may need to select which organization to enter upon signing in.

    When signing into your parent account, you’ll be given the option to log in as any of your students to join upcoming sessions. Sessions are joinable 15 minutes prior to the session start time, and each session will show a “Join Session” button underneath the student’s name as shown below.

    If you choose to sign into your Parent Dashboard, you’ll still have one-click access to join your student’s sessions in the “Upcoming Sessions” tab. 

    Note: If you join a session from your Parent account, the system will log you in as that student and keep you logged in as that student after the session.
